A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND WISH MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY TO JAMES NORRIS, SR., OF DORCHESTER COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THE VERY SPECIAL OCCASION OF HIS ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY.

Whereas, James Norris, Sr., of Dorchester County was born February 20, 1892, to Mennal and Sarah Danells Norris in the Givhans Community in Ridgeville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, in 1915 he married the late Alice Wright; and

Whereas, to this union eleven children were born, eight of whom are still living: Louise Jenkins, Vallie Kearse, Laverne Jacques, James Norris, Jr., Lillian Smith, Otis Norris, Margie Hall, and Freeman Norris; and

Whereas, James Norris is affectionately called "Papa" by his children; and

Whereas, he has twenty-four grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, and thirteen great great grandchildren; and

Whereas, Mr. Norris has been a continuous and faithful member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Givhans, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. Norris has lived a long and prosperous life, rich in family and friends who know and love him dearly; and

Whereas, it is fitting that the General Assembly recognize and congratulate Mr. James Norris, Sr., on this very special occasion. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Mr. James Norris, Sr., of Dorchester County, South Carolina, and wish him many happy returns of the day on the very special occasion of his one hundredth birthday.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. James Norris, Sr., 1571 Carter Road, Ridgeville, South Carolina 29472.
