A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF FORMER PENDLETON MAYOR DEXTER GOSSETT OF ANDERSON COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Dexter Gossett of Anderson County, former Mayor of Pendleton, has died at the age of seventy-four; and

Whereas, he served as mayor from 1958 to 1965 and again from 1971 to 1981; and

Whereas, he also served in the Anderson County Auditor's Office and was a former town councilman for the Town of Pendleton; and

Whereas, he is credited with helping Pendleton to grow and modernize and was a dedicated public servant who was greatly respected and admired, by all who knew him; and

Whereas, we want his family and many friends to know that they are in our thoughts and have our sincerest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of former Pendleton mayor Dexter Gossett of Anderson County and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mayor Gossett, in care of his widow, Elizabeth Lawton Gossett, of Pendleton.
