A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-13-612 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT POLITICAL CAMPAIGN FUNDS CONTRIBUTED TO A CANDIDATE FOR THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN VIOLATION OF ANY LAW, RULE, OR REGULATION GOVERNING SUCH CONTRIBUTIONS MUST BE DEPOSITED TO THE CREDIT OF THE GENERAL FUND OF THE STATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 9, Chapter 13, Title 8 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 8-13-612. Political campaign funds contributed to the campaign of a candidate for the General Assembly in violation of any law, rule, or regulation governing such contributions must be forwarded to the State Treasurer for deposit to the credit of the general fund of the State."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
