A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-13-822 SO AS TO REQUIRE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DISCLOSE ON THEIR STATEMENT OF ECONOMIC INTEREST THE SOURCE AND AMOUNT OF INCOME RECEIVED IN THE PREVIOUS CALENDAR YEAR FROM A REGISTERED LOBBYIST OR BY A PERSON OR ENTITY EMPLOYING OR RETAINING A REGISTERED LOBBYIST.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article II, Chapter 13, Title 8 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 8-13-822. In addition to other disclosure requirements, members of the General Assembly shall report in their statement of economic interest the source and amount of all income received in the last completed calendar year from a registered lobbyist or from a person or entity employing or retaining a registered lobbyist."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect January 1, 1992.
