A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. MARION J. GOODSON, COURT CRIER AND CHIEF BAILIFF OF THE DARLINGTON COUNTY FOURTH CIRCUIT COURT, FOR HIS TRULY OUTSTANDING SERVICE IN THIS CAPACITY FOR ALMOST TWENTY-FIVE YEARS.

Whereas, Marion J. Goodson of Darlington is the court crier and chief bailiff of the Darlington County Fourth Circuit Court; and

Whereas, he assumed these positions on February 17, 1968, and replaced his uncle who had served in this capacity for several decades; and

Whereas, prior to joining the court, Mr. Goodson was associated with Sonoco Products from which he retired after thirty years of distinguished service; and

Whereas, as court crier and bailiff, Marion Goodson has earned not only the respect but the admiration and affection of all those with whom he has come into contact be they judges, litigants, lawyers, jurors, staff, or ordinary citizens involved with or visiting the court; and

Whereas, he and his lovely wife, Fannie, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last month and they have been blessed with four delightful children in addition to their other family and many friends; and

Whereas, members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this truly fine man and native South Carolinian for his almost twenty-five years of devoted service to his county and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mr. Marion J. Goodson, court crier and chief bailiff of the Darlington County Fourth Circuit Court, for his truly outstanding service in this capacity for almost twenty-five years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Goodson.
