A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING DR. MARION W. MCLESTER OF SUMTER COUNTY FOR HER MORE THAN SIXTY-FIVE YEARS OF WORKING TO IMPROVE THE RAFTING CREEK COMMUNITY OF SUMTER COUNTY.

Whereas, Dr. Marion W. McLester, a retired educator and farmer, has devoted more than sixty-five years of her inspiring life working for improvements to the Rafting Creek community of Sumter County; and

Whereas, now at age 93, Dr. McLester's direct organized services to the community include serving as president of the Rafting Creek Homemakers Club, member of the Sumter County Homemakers Council of Farm Women, troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America, and volunteer worker at Rafting Creek School; and

Whereas, as an advocate for the youth of the Rafting Creek community, she was instrumental in getting the use of a portion of Rafting Creek Elementary School as a recreation center in 1981; and

Whereas, she is a caring individual whose commitment to community service has endeared her to all who know her and makes her highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends Dr. Marion W. McLester of Sumter County for her more than sixty-five years of working to improve the Rafting Creek community of Sumter County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. McLester.
