TO COMMEND THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, AND STAFF OF MIDLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL IN AIKEN COUNTY FOR THEIR EXTRAORDINARY EFFORTS AND PHENOMENAL SUCCESS IN RAISING FUNDS FOR THE VALLEY EMPTY STOCKING FUND.
Whereas, the students, faculty, and staff of Midland Valley High School in Aiken County, for the past ten years, have raised funds for the Valley Empty Stocking Fund; and
Whereas, in 1990, the students, faculty, and staff of Midland Valley High once again demonstrated the true spirit of the Christmas season dedicating themselves and their efforts to this annual community service which resulted in a fundraising campaign which far exceeded any previous year; and
Whereas, the 1990 campaign began on December first and ended on December eighteenth raising an unprecedented five thousand dollars through individual contributions, clubs, and competitions; and
Whereas, the 1990 high school drive for the Valley Empty Stocking Fund, although slightly longer than other drives, raised approximately ten times more than it had ever raised in the past; and
Whereas, this generous five thousand dollar donation to the fund was approximately one-fourth of the total contributions made and helped three hundred thirty-one families or a total of one thousand, eighty-five people; and
Whereas, the Senate is pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the students, faculty, and staff of Midland Valley High School for their extraordinary fundraising efforts for the Valley Empty Stocking Fund. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate commend the students, faculty, and staff of Midland Valley High School in Aiken County for their extraordinary efforts and phenomenal success in raising five thousand dollars in a mere eighteen days for the Valley Empty Stocking Fund.
