A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE GERALD TAYLOR OF AIKEN COUNTY UPON BEING AWARDED THE "FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR" AWARD FOR THE BELVEDERE FIRE DISTRICT.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were delighted to learn that Gerald Taylor of Aiken County recently was recognized as "Firefighter of the Year" in 1990 by the Belvedere Fire District; and

Whereas, Mr. Taylor is a South Carolina certified firefighter who is currently employed with the City of Aiken as a combination police officer and firefighter; and

Whereas, in addition to his service with the City of Aiken, he is a volunteer firefighter with the Belvedere Fire Department and has been a dedicated employee since August, 1989; and

Whereas, in addition to being named "Firefighter of the Year" by the Belvedere Fire District, he has also been named "Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year" by the Aiken Jaycees for his dedication to the preservation of peace; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to commend this dedicated public servant for his outstanding contribution in preserving the health and welfare of the citizens of his county and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Gerald Taylor of Aiken County upon being awarded the "Firefighter of the Year" award for the Belvedere Fire District.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Gerald Taylor.
