TO AMEND CHAPTER 1, TITLE 2, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, BY ADDING SECTION 2-1-70 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT NO MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OR THE SENATE MAY SERVE ON A LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION UNLESS THE REPRESENTED AREA IS WITHIN THE STATUTORY BOUNDARY OF HIS DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 2 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 2-1-70. No member of the House of Representatives or the Senate may serve or vote as a member of a legislative delegation as a result of an approved county or municipal annexation unless the act creating the House or Senate district is amended to include the annexed territory within the statutory boundary of that district."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
