TO PROVIDE THAT THE MAXIMUM RATE OF TRAVEL FOR MOTOR VEHICLES ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I-26 BETWEEN CLINTON AND SPARTANBURG (SPECIFICALLY, BETWEEN MILE MARKERS NO. 23 AND NO. 55) IS SIXTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR, AND TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO ERECT APPROPRIATE SPEED LIMIT MARKERS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. (A) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the maximum rate of travel for motor vehicles on Interstate Highway I-26 between the cities of Clinton and Spartanburg (specifically, between mile markers No. 23 and No. 55) is sixty-five miles per hour.
(B) The Department of Highways and Public Transportation shall erect appropriate speed-limit markers in conformity with the provisions of subsection (A).
SECTION 2. This act takes effect forty-five days after approval by the Governor.
