A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE BLACKSBURG HIGH SCHOOL LADY WILDCATS OF CHEROKEE COUNTY ON WINNING THE 1991 CLASS AA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Blacksburg High School Lady Wildcats of Cherokee County have won the 1991 Class AA state championship in girls' basketball; and

Whereas, Blacksburg defeated a very fine Allendale-Fairfax High School team by a score of 77-60 to claim a second consecutive state crown at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia on Saturday, March 9, 1991; and

Whereas, the Lady Wildcats had an exciting and excellent season en route to the title and were guided and directed by Coach Mitch Harris--one of the state's most outstanding and talented coaches; and

Whereas, winning the state championship is a great honor and accomplishment, and the Lady Wildcats' talent, enthusiasm, drive, dedication, and hard work are highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Blacksburg High School Lady Wildcats of Cherokee County on winning the 1991 Class AA state basketball championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the girls' basketball team of Blacksburg High School in care of Coach Mitch Harris.
