The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O Lord our God, more ready to hear our prayers than we to pray, we would not ask to be delivered from the demands and stresses of this day, but for understanding and wisdom to carry them. Keep us clear of callousness and indifference. Take from us all that obstructs the hearing of Your voice. Keep strong within us a living faith, a true piety, and a lofty patriotism. Guide us that our thoughts may be Your thoughts, our words Your word, our ways Your ways. May our completed task be a tribute to and in keeping with the way prescribed in Your Holy Word.

In the Name of Him Who is the Lord of life we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
