A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 59-67-410, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO CONTROL OF SCHOOL BUS TRANSPORTATION, SO AS TO TRANSFER CONTROL TO THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND TO PROVIDE FOR THE ORDERLY TRANSFER OF THOSE RESPONSIBILITIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 59-67-410 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 59-67-410. The Notwithstanding other provisions of this article, the control and management of all school bus transportation in the State shall be is vested in the State Board of Education Department of Transportation."

SECTION 2. The State Board of Education and the Director of the Department of Transportation shall effectuate the change and report to the General Assembly any further changes in law to accomplish the objectives of this act. Regulations promulgated by the Board of Education under its authority pertaining to the operation, control, and management of school buses are transferred to the Department of Transportation and continue in force and effect as if promulgated by the department.

SECTION 3. Upon approval by the Governor this act takes effect July 1, 1994.
