A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 23-31-155 SO AS TO PROHIBIT OUT OF DOORS ADVERTISEMENTS FOR THE SALE OF FIREARMS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 23-31-155. It is unlawful to advertise the sale of a pistol, rifle, shotgun, or other firearm on any outside billboard, sign, poster, or display.

A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor triable in magistrate's court and, upon conviction, must be imprisoned not more than thirty days or fined not more than one thousand dollars and may have his retail dealer license suspended or revoked by the division."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
