TO COMMEND MR. STEVEN H. LOTT AS HE LEAVES HIS POSITION AS A VETERANS AFFAIRS OFFICER FOR AIKEN COUNTY AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Mr. Steven H. Lott retired January 26, 1994, as a Veterans Affairs Officer for Aiken County; and
Whereas, Mr. Lott served as President from 1989-1992 for the South Carolina County Veterans Affairs Association, Chairman of the state association's Legislative Committee for 1992-1993, a delegate from the state association to the National Association County Veterans Service Officers for 1991-1994, and Chairman from 1992-1993 to the national association's Electronic and Communications National Committee; and
Whereas, his was the first Veterans Affairs Office in South Carolina to receive recognition as an Accredited Senior County Veterans Service Office on June 26, 1992; and
Whereas, Mr. Lott was Membership Chairman, 1990, for the South Carolina State American Legion Department; and
Whereas, he is an accredited veterans' representative by the American Legion, Viet Nam Veterans Association, and the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs; and
Whereas, Mr. Lott served as a member of the Aiken County Homeless Concerns Committee, 1991-1994; Commissioner for the Mattie C. Hall Health Commission, 1991-1994; member of the Federal Emergency Management Association Food and Shelter Committee, 1993-1994; hospital coordinator for the Greenville Shrine Hospital, 1993; member of the Board of Governors, Aiken County Shrine Club, 1993; member of the Executive Committee, Jamil Temple, 1993; secretary and treasurer, Potentate Guard, Jamil Temple, Aiken County Shrine Club, 1991-1993; director, Potentate Guard, Jamil Temple, Aiken County Shrine Club, 1994; and secretary, Aiken County Joint Veterans Council, 1991-1994; and
Whereas, as a member of the American Legion, Mr. Lott is current Vice Commander, 1994, for American Legion Post 71, past Post Commander American Legion Post 26, 1989, past District 4 Commander, 1990, and a member of the Honor Society of the American Legion; and
Whereas, as a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 43, Mr. Lott is current House Committee Chairman\Building Chairman; past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 43, 1988-1989, and, 1992-1993; and past Aid to the State Commander, 1991. He has held every office in the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 43 with the exception of chaplin; and
Whereas, as a member of VFW Post 5877, Mr. Lott served in the Service Office for VFW 10601, 1988-1992; as House Committee Chairman, 1992-1993; and as District Service Officer, 1992-1993; and
Whereas, Mr. Lott has received the Outstanding South Carolina Veterans Affairs Officer of the Year, 1989-1990 and 1991-1992; a Certificate of Achievement from the Department of the Army, January 1, 1992, United States Central Command, Lieutenant General, Williams G. Pagonis, Commanding Officer, for services rendered to all members of the Reserves and their families during the Gulf War; a Special Membership Citation, the American Legion, 1987 and 1990; special recognition from the Aiken County Council, 1990 and 1992; special recognition from the South Carolina House of Representatives, 1990 and 1992; a Certificate of Appreciation, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 43, 1992; and the Meritorious and Distinguished Service Award, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1991, Berkeley County; and
Whereas, Mr. Lott served on the United States Navy Fleet Ballistic and Fast Attack Submarines receiving various awards from the Naval Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, Presidential Citation, as well qualified submarine insignia; and Whereas, the members of the Senate are proud to note the many accomplishments and contributions of Mr. Steven H. Lott and thank him for his outstanding efforts on behalf of all veterans. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate commend Mr. Steven H. Lott as he leaves his position as a Veterans Affairs Officer for Aiken County and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Lott.
