A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-1-850 SO AS TO REQUIRE CERTAIN STATE AGENCIES TO INCLUDE PLANS, GOALS, AND PROGRESS REPORTS ON ADDRESSING THE PROBLEMS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS AND REQUIRE THE REPORT ALSO BE SUBMITTED TO THE JOINT LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE ON CHILDREN.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 1-1-850. The following state agencies shall include in their annual reports plans for addressing the problems of people who are homeless, goals and objectives for carrying out these plans, and their progress in achieving these goals and objectives:

(1) Office of the Governor, Economic Development Department;

(2) State Department of Mental Health;

(3) South Carolina Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse;

(4) State Department of Social Services;

(5) South Carolina Department of Youth Services;

(6) South Carolina Department of Corrections;

(7) Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services;

(8) State Agency of Vocational Rehabilitation;

(9) South Carolina Employment Security Commission;

(10) State Department of Mental Retardation;

(11) Continuum of Care for Emotionally Disturbed Children;

(12) State Housing, Finance, and Development Authority;

(13) South Carolina Protection and Advocacy for the Handicapped.

This report also must be submitted annually to the Joint Legislative Committee on Children.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
