A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF FORMER REPRESENTATIVE ROBERT R. DURANT, JR., OF CLARENDON COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Robert R. DuRant, Jr., of Manning died at the age of eighty-eight on December 13, 1992; and

Whereas, Mr. DuRant was the retired president and chairman of the board of the Bank of Clarendon, served in the South Carolina House of Representatives in 1931, and was former postmaster of Manning; and

Whereas, he was very active in the civic matters of Manning and Clarendon County and was a devoted member of his church, the Presbyterian Church of Manning; and

Whereas, this outstanding and exemplary individual, who meant so much to his community for so long a time, will be missed tremendously. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of former Representative Robert R. DuRant, Jr., of Clarendon County and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. DuRant's family.
