House Bill 3281 repeals Article 37, Chapter 5, Title 56, of the South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976, relating to the inspection of vehicles.
If the vehicle inspection program is eliminated, cost savings to the Department of Public Safety is estimated at $1.2 million, and 30 FTE positions which could be utilized in other programs of the Department of Public Safety.
This bill should be referred to the South Carolina Department of Revenue and Taxation for the reduction in revenue.

TO REPEAL ARTICLE 37, CHAPTER 5, TITLE 56, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE INSPECTION OF VEHICLES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 37, Chapter 5, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is repealed.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
