A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

SALUTING DR. COLLIE COLEMAN, PRESIDENT OF ALLEN UNIVERSITY IN COLUMBIA, FOR HIS SUPERB AND TIRELESS EFFORTS TO ESTABLISH ALLEN UNIVERSITY AMONG THE PREMIER LEADERS IN HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE PALMETTO STATE.

Whereas, for eight years Dr. Collie Coleman has rendered dedicated and truly productive service as President of Allen University in Columbia; and

Whereas, Dr. Coleman can be credited with many achievements and accomplishments at Allen, such as the acquisition of Good Samaritan Hospital in 1987, the restoration of J.S. Flipper Library, the employment of faculty fifty percent of whom hold earned doctorate degrees, and the renovation of the Student Center, but his most outstanding accomplishment certainly has been attaining accreditation for this historic and resilient institution of higher education; and

Whereas, Dr. Coleman is a gifted individual who possesses unbounded energy and remarkable talent and ability, and all Allen University students and alumni, as well as the citizens of Columbia and of the whole State of South Carolina, have very good reason to take pride in his success at Allen and to be grateful for all that he has achieved. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, salutes Dr. Collie Coleman, President of Allen University, for his superb and tireless efforts to establish Allen University among the premier leaders in higher education in the Palmetto State.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Coleman.
