A HOUSE RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING CALVIN GILMORE PRODUCTIONS, LTD., OF MYRTLE BEACH FOR ITS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE TOURISM INDUSTRY OF THE GRAND STRAND AND OF THE STATE, AND CONGRATULATING THIS OUTSTANDING COMPANY FOR WINNING THE PRESTIGIOUS GOVERNOR'S CUP AWARD AS THE MOST OUTSTANDING TOURISM ATTRACTION OF 1992.

Whereas, Calvin Gilmore Productions, Ltd., of Myrtle Beach received South Carolina's top tourism award in February at the South Carolina Governor's Conference on Tourism and Travel; and

Whereas, the company was presented the prestigious Governor's Cup Award by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, which has annually recognized the State's top tourism attractions and events, as having been the most outstanding tourism attraction of 1992; and

Whereas, the award was presented to the company for helping promote the Palmetto State's tourism industry through its three live country music and comedy shows in the Grand Strand area; and

Whereas, Gilmore's three productions provide 4,200 seats in the Myrtle Beach area; in 1992 the company's employment increased from 110 to 250 employees; and it is estimated that Gilmore's forty-five performers will play to over one million people in 1993; and

Whereas, clearly Calvin Gilmore Productions has done much for the economy of the Grand Strand and of the State and is highly deserving of commendation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognizes Calvin Gilmore Productions, Ltd., of Myrtle Beach for its contributions to the tourism industry of the Grand Strand and of the State and congratulates this outstanding company for winning the prestigious Governor's Cup Award as the most outstanding tourism attraction of 1992.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Calvin Gilmore Productions, Ltd., and to the executive director of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism.
