A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE CITY OF TEGA CAY FOR BEING THE FIRST YORK COUNTY MUNICIPALITY TO IMPLEMENT A VOLUNTEER RECYCLING PROGRAM.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the City of Tega Cay is the first York County municipality to implement a volunteer recycling program; and

Whereas, Tega Cay has entered into a two-year contract with Chambers Waste System of North Carolina for curbside recycling and garbage pickup for the 1,370 homes and condominiums in the Tega Cay community; and

Whereas, this program is a result of almost four years of work by more than one hundred recycling volunteers in Tega Cay including volunteers Barbara Worrell, Jane Frank, and Bill Fenton, who were part of the first core group of interested citizens who felt it was time to start such an effort in their home community; and

Whereas, organizers certainly hope that within a short period of time one hundred percent of the homes and condominiums in Tega Cay will be participating in this recycling program; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to congratulate the City of Tega Cay and each of the interested volunteers for becoming the first York County city to implement such an environmentally necessary endeavor. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the City of Tega Cay for being the first York County municipality to implement a volunteer recycling program.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Tega Cay City Council at a meeting on Monday, April 19, 1993.
