TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE SOIL CLASSIFIERS BOARD OF REGISTRATION, RELATING TO AMENDING SOIL CLASSIFIERS' REGULATIONS, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1614, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Soil Classifiers Board of Registration, relating to Amending Soil Classifiers' regulations, designated as Regulation Document Number 1614, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
These revised regulations incorporate changes made to the Act by the S.C. General Assembly during their 1991 session. The three major changes are:
(1) A person seeking to become a registered soil classifier is required to have two years of soil classifying experience under the supervision of a registered soil classifier or from someone who meets the minimum academic and experience requirements of a registered soil classifier;
(2) A passing grade of 75% on the examination is required and anyone failing to reach a grade of 50% must wait one year before applying for reexamination; and
(3) Exemptions to the act are identified.
