A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING THE REVEREND STUART A. KERSEY OF CHEROKEE COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS PASTOR OF CHEROKEE AVENUE BAPTIST CHURCH OF GAFFNEY.

Whereas, the Reverend Stuart A. Kersey has had a very distinguished career in the ministry; and

Whereas, he is a native of Richmond, Virginia, attended the public schools of that city, earned his B.A. degree at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, received his theological degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and engaged in additional studies at Indiana University and the University of Virginia Hospital (in pastoral care); and

Whereas, he has served several Baptist churches throughout the South since 1951, including Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church in Gaffney (from 1974 to 1993); and

Whereas, he has contributed most generously of his time and talents over the years to numerous religious, civic, and charitable organizations and committees; and

Whereas, he is now serving as interim pastor of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church; and

Whereas, he is an outstanding and truly inspiring minister of the Gospel and has meant so much to countless individuals in his preaching and charitable work. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and commends the Reverend Stuart A. Kersey of Cherokee County for his outstanding service as pastor of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church of Gaffney.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Reverend Kersey.
