TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-780, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO RECORDS AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION REGARDING CHILDREN UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE FAMILY COURT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE NAME OF THE CUSTODIAL PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OF A CHILD COMMITTING ANY OFFENSE WHICH WOULD BE A MISDEMEANOR OR FELONY IF COMMITTED BY AN ADULT MAY BE MADE PUBLIC BY APPROPRIATE COURT OR LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 20-7-780 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 418 of 1990, is further amended by adding:
"(D) The name of the custodial parent or legal guardian of a child under the jurisdiction of the court for committing any offense which would be a misdemeanor or felony if committed by an adult may be made public by appropriate court or law enforcement authorities."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
