TO CONGRATULATE DR. JOHN M. PRATT OF YORK COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE PRACTICE OF MEDICINE AND WISHING HIM THE BEST IN HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that Dr. John M. Pratt of York County is retiring from the practice of medicine; and
Whereas, Dr. Pratt has practiced medicine for fifty-nine years, giving unselfishly to his State and community; and
Whereas, it was not uncommon for Dr. Pratt to see seventy patients a day at his office and then still have time to make his rounds at the hospital; and
Whereas, Dr. Pratt leaves a long legacy as a Medical University of South Carolina board member for forty-one years, until his retirement from the board in 1988; and
Whereas, Dr. Pratt is the very epitome of what a family doctor should be, not only keeping up with the newer pharmaceuticals and areas of medicine, but having a wealth of compassion for his patients; and
Whereas, the York community has recently showered its praise on this well-loved doctor three years ago, when the school district dedicated its football stadium at York Comprehensive High School to him as a tribute to his forty years as team physician; and
Whereas, this individual has contributed greatly to the quality of life in his community and deserves the respect and admiration of all with whom he has come in contact. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Dr. John M. Pratt of York County on the occasion of his retirement from the practice of medicine and wishing him the best in his retirement.
