A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 44-115-30, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO A PATIENT'S MEDICAL RECORDS, SO AS TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT THAT MAY BE CHARGED TO ONE DOLLAR PER PAGE OR A TOTAL OF TEN DOLLARS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 44-115-30 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 480 of 1992, is amended by adding at the end:

"Charges for copying records pursuant to this section or any other provision of this chapter may not exceed one dollar per page or a total of ten dollars, whichever is greater."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
