EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF DR. HUNTER W. MAY OF GREENWOOD COUNTY, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Whereas, Dr. Hunter Willyard May of Greenwood County has died at the age of seventy-one; and
Whereas, Dr. May was a retired pathologist and had been a resident of Greenwood since 1953; and
Whereas, he attended Tulane University and was a graduate of Louisiana State University Medical School; and
Whereas, he served as the chief pathologist at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood for many years and worked in that department until his retirement in 1992; and
Whereas, he was a highly respected and admired physician and was a member of several medical societies and associations; and
Whereas, he was also very active in support of his community; he was a past president of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, was previously honored as "Greenwood's Man of the Year", was active in the initial fund-soliciting for the Greenwood Methodist Home, was active in the funding of the J. W. Babb Stadium at Greenwood High School, and was a devoted member of Greenwood's First Presbyterian Church; and
Whereas, he was an outstanding individual who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Dr. Hunter W. May of Greenwood County and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. May's family.
