A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 47-17-125 SO AS TO INCLUDE OSTRICHES AND OTHER RATITES UNDER THE MEAT AND MEAT FOOD REGULATIONS AND INSPECTION LAW.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 47-17-125. The requirements of this chapter which apply to the regulation and inspection of cattle, sheep, swine, or goats including their meat and meat by-products apply to ostriches and other ratites including, but not limited to, emus, reheas, and cassowaries."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
