A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 43-21-45 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE, DIVISION ON AGING SHALL DESIGNATE AREA AGENCIES ON AGING WHO SHALL DESIGNATE AS FOCAL POINTS CERTAIN RECIPIENTS OF FUNDS THROUGH THE DIVISION ON AGING.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 43-21-45. The Governor's Office, Division on Aging shall designate area agencies on aging and these area agencies on aging shall designate focal points. Focal points are leaders relative to all aging issues in their communities whose primary responsibility is to carry out a comprehensive service system for older adults in their respective counties and who are recipients of funds through the Division on Aging. The area agencies on aging constitute the regional level and the focal points constitute the local level of the state aging network."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
