TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 16-19-65 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE OWNER OR OPERATOR OF CERTAIN COIN-OPERATED MACHINES FROM PAYING FOR FREE GAMES WON BUT NOT PLAYED UNLESS THE MACHINE IS EQUIPPED WITH A COUNTER OR OTHER DEVICE FOR DETERMINING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY DEPOSITED AND NUMBER OF FREE GAMES WON BUT NOT PLAYED AND PROVIDE PENALTIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 16-19-65. The owner or operator of a coin-operated nonpayout pin table, in-line pin game, or video game with a free play feature licensed pursuant to Sections 12-21-2720 through 12-21-2750 may not pay a player for free games won but not played unless the machine is equipped with a counter or other device for determining the amount of money the player has deposited in the machine and for determining the number of free games won but not played. A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than five thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than six months."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
