A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF JOHNNY TEMPLE (JOHN ELLIS) OF ANDERSON COUNTY, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Johnny Temple (John Ellis) of Anderson, former major league All Star second baseman formerly of Irmo, died recently at the age of sixty-six; and

Whereas, he was a World War II Navy veteran and a major league baseball player with the Cincinnati Reds from 1952-59 and 1964; he played with the Cleveland Indians from 1960-61 and with the Houston Colt 45's from 1962-63; and he was selected to five All-Star teams; and

Whereas, he was an outstanding individual whose presence will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of Johnny Temple (John Ellis) of Anderson County and extends sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Temple's family.
