TO CONGRATULATE NICLAS NILSSON, STUDENT AND OUTSTANDING TENNIS PLAYER, AT LANDER UNIVERSITY UPON WINNING THE 1992 NAIA NATIONAL SINGLES TITLE IN TENNIS.
Whereas, the members of the Senate are very pleased to learn that Niclas Nilsson of Lander University defeated the number one seed and defending national champion en route to the singles tennis championship; and
Whereas, Niclas Nilsson is a three-time All American in both singles and doubles in tennis and led Lander University at number one in singles and doubles; and
Whereas, Niclas Nilsson was recognized by being named to the NAIA All-District 6 team for three years in both singles and doubles, selected as a Rolex regional winner twice, and a Rolex national finalist once; and
Whereas, Niclas Nilsson has been named to Tennis Magazine's All-Start Team and through his dedication and determination, has reaped the highest honors bestowed upon an intercollegiate tennis player; and
Whereas, Niclas Nilsson is to be commended for the acclaim he has brought to Lander University, to the Greenwood community, and to the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize Niclas Nilsson, an exemplary student-athlete whose achievements have merited the regard of all who know him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate hereby congratulate Niclas Nilsson, outstanding young man and flawless tennis player, for his outstanding athletic abilities in leading Lander University's men's tennis team to national recognition.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Joseph Cabri, Coach, Finis Horne, Athletic Director, and Dr. William C. Moran, President of Lander University.
