A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-29-75 SO AS TO REQUIRE MANUFACTURERS OF MANUFACTURED HOMES TO AFFIX A PERMANENT METAL PLATE ON WHICH IS IMPRINTED THE SERIAL NUMBER OF THE HOME WITHIN THREE FEET OF ITS PRINCIPAL DOOR.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 40-29-75. No person may sell or offer for sale any manufactured home unless a permanent metal plate, imprinted with the serial number, is affixed to the home within three feet of its principal door."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
