TO AMEND SECTION 56-1-200, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DUPLICATE DRIVER'S LICENSE, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE COST TO OBTAIN A DUPLICATE DRIVER'S LICENSE IS THE COST OF PRODUCING IT NOT TO EXCEED THE FEE FOR RENEWAL OF THE DRIVER'S LICENSE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 56-1-200 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 56-1-200. In the event that a driver's license is lost or destroyed, the person to whom the license was issued may, upon payment of a fee of fifty cents, obtain a duplicate or, substitution thereof upon furnishing proof satisfactory to the department that such the license has been lost or destroyed. The fee for the issuance of a duplicate driver's license is the actual cost of producing the license not to exceed the fee for the renewal of the driver's license."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
