A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE EAU CLAIRE HIGH SCHOOL TEAM OF COLUMBIA ON WINNING THE SECOND ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY BOWL, SPONSORED BY BROOKLAND BAPTIST CHURCH, FEBRUARY 12, 1994.

Whereas, the Eau Claire High School team recently won the Second Annual Black History Bowl; and

Whereas, eight local high schools participated in this competition: Irmo, Keenan, Brookland-Cayce, Lower Richland, Airport, Cities-In-Schools, A.C. Flora, and Eau Claire; and

Whereas, this event is based on intellectual competition and the questions come from all areas, such as sports, inventions, people that have made a difference, and many other topics relating to Black history; and

Whereas, the purpose of the Black History Bowl is to educate people involved in the game about Black history, bring greater awareness of what Blacks have done, and guide these teams from their roots up to the present time; and

Whereas, this competition does not raise any money, but will long live in each team's memory; and

Whereas, the Eau Claire High School Team accomplished this arduous task while giving back to their student body, church, and community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Eau Claire High School Team of Columbia on winning the Second Annual Black History Bowl, sponsored by Brookland Baptist Church, February 12, 1994.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Eau Claire High School Team.
