A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 58-3-95, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO A PANEL OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION HEARING PROPOSED RATE CHANGES FOR CASES INVOLVING HEAT, WATER, SEWERAGE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL, STREET RAILWAY SERVICE, AND SMALL TELEPHONE COMPANIES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THESE CASES MAY BE HEARD BY A PANEL OF THE COMMISSION OR BY THE FULL COMMISSION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 58-3-95 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 58-3-95. Whenever a corporation or person furnishing heat, water, sewerage collection, sewerage disposal, or street railway service, or whenever a telephone utility with fewer than ten thousand customers as of the date of filing, files a schedule setting forth proposed changes with the commission pursuant to the procedures prescribed in this title, a panel of three members of the commission or the full commission shall may hear and rule on the proposed changes. The chairman of the commission shall appoint the members of the panel."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
