A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 9-11-27, SO AS TO ALLOW A MAGISTRATE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA RETIREMENT SYSTEM TO ELECT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SOUTH CAROLINA POLICE OFFICER'S RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 11, Title 9 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 9-11-27. A magistrate eligible to participate in the South Carolina Retirement System may elect to participate in the South Carolina Police Officer's Retirement System."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
