TO AUTHORIZE THE CONTINUED DISPOSAL AT THE BARNWELL FACILITY OF LOW-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE GENERATED OUTSIDE THE SOUTHEAST LOW-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT COMPACT REGION PURSUANT TO CODE SECTION 48-48-80(G) OF THE 1976 CODE FROM JULY 1, 1994, TO DECEMBER 31, 1995, AND ONLY TO THE EXTENT THAT THE SOUTHEAST LOW-LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT COMPACT COMMISSION APPROVES.
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That pursuant to the provisions of Section 48-48-80(G) of the 1976 Code, for the period beginning July 1, 1994, and ending December 31, 1995, the date set for closure of the Barnwell facility, the General Assembly authorizes the Barnwell facility to continue to accept for disposal low-level radioactive waste generated outside of the Southeast Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Compact Region only to the extent that this waste disposal is authorized by the Southeast Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management Compact Commission in accordance with the provisions of Section 48-47-79(9).
