TO RECOGNIZE MR. GARY T. GEDDENS, PRINCIPAL OF COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL, UPON BEING NAMED THE "ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR" BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCILS AT THE WINTER MEETING OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, TO INVITE HIM TO VISIT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1994, AND TO EXTEND TO HIM THE PRIVILEGE OF THE HOUSE FLOOR AT AN APPROPRIATE TIME ON THAT DATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF BEING RECOGNIZED.
Whereas, Mr. Gary T. Geddens, Principal of Columbia High School, was named the "Administrator of the Year" by the South Carolina Association of Student Councils at the winter meeting of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and
Whereas, this award is sponsored by Herff-Jones who believes that behind every good student council is a good administrator; and
Whereas, Mr. Geddens has been an active supporter of his school's student council for over nineteen years and always has encouraged its members to excel and to achieve excellence; and
Whereas, he also has served for eight years as Chairman of the Student Council Committee of the South Carolina Association of Secondary School Principals and has been the liaison between the South Carolina Association of Student Councils and the South Carolina Association of Secondary School Principals; and
Whereas, in addition to the recognition at the winter meeting recently held at the Hyatt Hotel on Hilton Head Island, Mr. Geddens received a plaque provided by Herff-Jones at the South Carolina Association of Student Councils Banquet held March 12, 1994, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Columbia; and
Whereas, Mr. Geddens is the first person to be named "Administrator of the Year" which is going to be an annual award given to an outstanding administrator in South Carolina; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to have the opportunity to note the many accomplishments of Mr. Geddens. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize Mr. Gary T. Geddens, Principal of Columbia High School, upon being named the "Administrator of the Year" by the South Carolina Association of Student Councils at the winter meeting of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, invite him to visit the House of Representatives Wednesday, April 6, 1994, and extend to him the privilege of the House floor at an appropriate time on that date for the purpose of being recognized.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Geddens.
