TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND GUY F. LIPSCOMB, A RETIRED INDUSTRIALIST AND ARTIST ON BEING RECENTLY NAMED TO THE SOUTH CAROLINA BUSINESS HALL OF FAME.
Whereas, the General Assembly has learned that Guy F. Lipscomb will be honored at the Tenth Annual South Carolina Business Hall of Fame Banquet; and
Whereas, Mr. Lipscomb began his career with Continental Chemical Company, founded by his father, a long-time professor and Chairman of the University of South Carolina Department of Chemistry; and
Whereas, after stints with other companies, Guy Lipscomb returned to Continental as Chairman in 1947; and
Whereas, he continued with the company which became Anchor Continental Inc., until 1979 when the company was sold and he retired; and
Whereas, Guy Lipscomb, who is a well-known and established artist, has devoted much of his time to community service; and
Whereas, he has led various civic campaigns and was instrumental in raising $3 million dollars in private funds required to establish the State Museum. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate and commend Guy F. Lipscomb, a retired industrialist and artist on being recently named to the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Guy F. Lipscomb.
