TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TO INCLUDE ON EVERY MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER'S LICENSE AND PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD IT ISSUES THE NATIONAL CITIZENSHIP OF THE PERSON TO WHOM THE LICENSE OR CARD IS ISSUED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The Department of Highways and Public Transportation shall cause to be printed on every motor vehicle driver's license and every personal identification card issued pursuant to the provisions of Title 56 of the 1976 Code the national citizenship of the person to whom the license or the card is issued.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor, except that, in the case of motor vehicle driver's licenses and personal identification cards already issued at the time this act becomes effective, the Department of Highways and Public Transportation is authorized to comply with Section 1 when those licenses and cards are presented for renewal.
