CONGRATULATING UNION HIGH SCHOOL ON CAPTURING ITS SIXTH CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL SHOOTING CROWN BY WINNING THE SCHOLASTIC CATEGORY OF THE 1994 NATIONAL NRA JUNIOR THREE POSITION SMALLBORE RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIPS, ITS SECOND NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC AIR RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP, AND ITS EIGHTH PRESIDENT'S AWARD.
Whereas, Union High captured its sixth straight and seventh overall national shooting crown by winning the scholastic category of the 1994 National NRA Junior Three Position Smallbore Rifle Championships; and
Whereas, Union High also won its second National Scholastic Air Rifle Championship; and
Whereas, Union received its eighth President's Award; and
Whereas, Union team members included seniors Talmadge Wilkins, IV, and Jeff Vaughan, junior David Fowler, and sophomore Rob Toney; and
Whereas, with six past National Individual JROTC Championships to its credit, Union won its seventh in the last eight years; and
Whereas, David Fowler won the 1994 National Individual JROTC Air Rifle Championships; and
Whereas, in addition to success on the firing line, the Union High shooting club has won eight NRA President's Awards and seven Most Improved Club Awards -- more than any other of the 15,000 affiliated clubs of the NRA during the same period; and Whereas, Union High School's success in this area has been phenomenal, and the shooting team has brought recognition and honor to the entire State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, all South Carolinians are genuinely proud of the team's accomplishments, which are greatly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Union High School on capturing its sixth consecutive national smallbore rifle shooting crown, its second national air rifle crown, and its eighth President's Award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Union High Rifle Team, in care of Paul Davis, Union High School, Peach Orchard Road, Union, South Carolina 29379.
