EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF MRS. ATHERINE T. DAVIS AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Mrs. Atherine T. Davis died on May 10, 1994, at the age of eight-two; and
Whereas, Mrs. Davis was married to the late Willie C. Davis; and
Whereas, she joined Mt. Olive C.M.E. Church at the age of eleven and later served as President of the Stewardess Board; and
Whereas, she also served as Vice President of the Charleston - Columbia District Stewardess Board, was a member of the Missionary Society, and served as choir leader, Sunday school teacher, and delegate to the district and annual conferences; and
Whereas, she was also active in her community and was a member of the Heroines of Jericho, Lodge No. 522; Grayland Social Club; and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Post 217; and
Whereas, she was a lovely person who meant much to her family, friends, and community, and her presence will be missed greatly; and
Whereas, we want Mrs. Davis' family and many friends to know that they are uppermost in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy during this difficult time. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Mrs. Atherine T. Davis and extend sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Atherine T. Davis, in care of her son, Matthew E. Davis, Esquire, P.O. Box 8417, Columbia, 29202.
