A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE FOR THE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE OF JOHN S. SIMMONS AS UNITED STATES ATTORNEY FOR THE DISTRICT OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the members of the Senate note that Mr. John S. Simmons, United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina, is leaving office after serving for the last year in the vital post of United States Attorney; and

Whereas, his tenure in office has been marked by a strong commitment to cooperation among all law enforcement agencies, federal, state, and local, so as to provide better for the public safety of the people of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he has also been a strong advocate for the prosecution of white collar crime and public corruption, employing the resources of his office forcefully in pursuit of such criminal behavior; and

Whereas, his hard work, perseverance, and equanimity in the face of the myriad challenges of the post have set a high standard for his successors and added lustre to his reputation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express appreciation for the distinguished service of John S. Simmons as United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to John S. Simmons.
