A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE SORROW OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF WILLIAM DAVID LONGSHORE OF PACOLET, SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO EXTEND ITS SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, William David Longshore of Pacolet, South Carolina died April 14, 1993, at the age of sixty-eight; and

Whereas, he was born in Newberry County to the late James Jacob and Jessie Lee McKittice Longshore; and

Whereas, Mr. Longshore was the husband of Elsie Vaughn Longshore; and

Whereas, William Longshore was a retired district ranger with the Forestry Commission; and

Whereas, Mr. Longshore was Grand Master of the Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina, having been elected April, 1991, and was the recipient of the Albert Gallitan Mackey Medal, the highest honor that can be conferred by the Grand Lodge, Ancient Free Masons; and

Whereas, Mr. Longshore was a member of the Dorcas Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 177, the Royal Order of Scotland, and the Red Cross of Constantine, and was a York Rite Mason, 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Knight Mason; and

Whereas, as a member of the Hezaz Temple, he received the Legion of Honor of Palmetto Demolays and was a member of Grand College of Rites, Grand Master's Council AMD, the Masonic Order of Bath, Palmetto York Rite College, and Spartanburg Council of Allied Masonic Degrees; and

Whereas, he also received the Dalcho Medal of the Grand Lodge of South Carolina and was 33rd Degree Inspector General of the Scottish Rite; and

Whereas, he was a devoted husband and father of a son and two daughters; and

Whereas, he was well respected and admired by those who knew him and he will be missed by all; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to express sorrow at the death of such a great man and citizen of this State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express sorrow at the death of William David Longshore of Pacolet, South Carolina and extend their sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of William David Longshore and the Grand Lodge, Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina.
