A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING CHARLES E. POWER OF ANDERSON COUNTY UPON BEING NAMED A MELVIN JONES FELLOW, AND COMMENDING HIM FOR HIS THIRTY YEARS OF EXCELLENT SERVICE AS AN EDUCATOR.

Whereas, Charles E. Power of Anderson County has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow in recognition of his dedicated service to the communities of Pelzer, West Pelzer, Williamston, and Piedmont and to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. Power served in the military during World War II, completed his college degree at Newberry College where he was an outstanding athlete, and was elected to the Newberry College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992; and

Whereas, he rendered thirty years of excellent service as an educator, primarily in Anderson County, and he has contributed outstanding leadership and service with the Lions Club in Pelzer and has been an active and devoted member of Pelzer Presbyterian Church; and

Whereas, he has been a superb community role model for all who have known him and is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Charles E. Power of Anderson County upon being named a Melvin Jones Fellow and commends him for his thirty years of excellent service as an educator.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Power.
