A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES TO RICHARD K. HARDING, M.D., AND HIS FAMILY, OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON HIS ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF RECORDER OF THE AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC ASSOCIATION.

Whereas, Richard K. Harding, M.D., of Richland County was elected Recorder of the American Psychiatric Association at the association's annual meeting held in San Francisco in May, 1993; and

Whereas, the election to the position of Recorder is a high honor and a privilege and is the first step in line for the office of Presidency of the American Psychiatric Association, which is a national medical society founded in 1844, comprised of thirty-eight thousand members; and

Whereas, Doctor Harding has chaired the South Carolina Mental Health Commission since 1988 and has served the State of South Carolina and the Department of Mental Health with great commitment, dedication, and integrity; and

Whereas, Doctor Harding has served on the Board of Directors of Family Services, as Chairman of the Psychiatric Association Ethics Committee, and as a delegate to the South Carolina Medical Association Assembly. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina extends its sincere congratulations and best wishes to Doctor Richard K. Harding, his wife Sally, and his children, Katherine Ann and Richard, Jr., on the election of Doctor Harding to the office of Recorder of the American Psychiatric Association.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Richard K. Harding, M.D., 2 Richland Medical Park, Suite 508, Columbia, South Carolina 29203.
