A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-11-150 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A STATE AGENCY FROM HIRING A TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE AT A SALARY GREATER THAN THE GRADE LEVEL FOR THE FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT POSITION AND LIMIT THE LENGTH AND TIME OF EMPLOYMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 11, Title 8 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 8-11-150. A state agency may not hire a temporary employee at a salary greater than the grade level for the full-time equivalent position. A temporary employee may be hired for not more than six months and may work only a total of one thousand, five hundred hours during a fiscal year."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
