AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 779 OF 1988, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO LAURENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 55, SO AS TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE ELECTION TO ELECT A SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEE IN ELECTION DISTRICTS 2, 4, AND 6 OF LAURENS COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 55 FROM THE FIRST TUESDAY IN MARCH, 1996, TO THE FIRST TUESDAY IN MARCH, 1997.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Election date changed
SECTION 1. Section 1(F) of Act 779 of 1988, as last amended by Act 174 of 1995, is further amended to read:
"(F) An election to elect a school board trustee must be held on the first Tuesday in March, 1997, by the Laurens County Election Commission in Laurens County School District 55, Election Districts 2, 4, and 6 as described in this section. The trustees elected in each district shall take office on April 1, 1997, and shall serve a four-year term. After that election, successors must be elected for regular four-year terms at elections to be held on the first Tuesday in March of the appropriate year to take office on April first."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
