CONGRATULATING MS. KELLY MCCALLA OF GREENWOOD COUNTY FOR BEING NAMED THE 1997 SOUTH CAROLINA TEACHER OF THE YEAR.
Whereas, Ms. Kelly McCalla teaches science at Oakland Elementary School in Greenwood; and
Whereas, Ms. McCalla has been named the 1997 South Carolina Teacher of the Year, having been selected for this prestigious honor from among sixty-five statewide nominees; and
Whereas, she is a ten-year teaching veteran and a staunch advocate of continuing education for teachers; and
Whereas, she now becomes the Palmetto State's representative in the National Teacher of the Year competition; and
Whereas, she will begin a one-year sabbatical in June, 1996, to work with the South Carolina Teacher Forum, a statewide professional development organization whose members are current and former state and district teachers of the year; and
Whereas, her professional skill and her dedication are truly outstanding and serve to make her a most deserving recipient of the Teacher of the Year award for the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, we are tremendously pleased to be able to recognize her contributions and accomplishments in this special way. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Ms. Kelly McCalla of Greenwood County for being named the 1997 South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. McCalla.
